Due to anticipated freezing temperatures, Kitsap County will open an Emergency Warming Center at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Pavilion (1200 Fairgrounds Rd NW, Bremerton) on Sunday, December 26 and Monday, December 27. The hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No additional guests will be admitted after 4:30 p.m.
Water, hot drinks, and snacks will be provided at the center. There will be seating and tables, as well as places for charging cell phones. Pets are permitted at the center, provided they are kept crated and do not create a hazard for staff or other guests.
Special measures are being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Guests must self-administer a rapid COVID-19 test to enter. Guests who test positive will not be able to stay at the Warming Center and can receive a referral to the Quarantine and Isolation site operated by Kitsap County Emergency Management if emergency lodging is needed. Guests who do not test positive will still be required to wear a mask while at the Warming Center, maintain social distancing, and follow other safety measures as directed.
Transportation: Guests with their own vehicles may drive to the Pavilion and park at the facility. Guests without personal vehicles may request transportation from Gather Together Grow Together by calling 360-373-3000. The Warming Center can also be reached via regular Kitsap Transit bus routes and by Kitsap Transit ACCESS bus starting Monday.
Efforts are underway to operate the Center for additional days. Additional days will be announced on Monday, December 27.
For those who need them, Severe Weather Shelters are also open during select days. Learn more here.
